Being green and saving money often go hand in hand, but how do you the customer know what eco friendly environmentally friendly products offer the best value?
Well if you are considering an eco friendly self build there are specialist consultants that can advise you on eco friendly building techniques and the best value products. They can advise on the “pay back” on the purchase and installation of items such as solar panels, ground source heat pumps, and wind turbines. They can also assist with eco refurbishments and advice on running your building residential or commercial in a more environmental friendly way. We will all leave a carbon footprint, perhaps with sound advice we can learn how to tread softly.

  1. It is refreshing to see a building contractor offering advice to clients in the “green building” area as it is usually during building and renovation work that improvements in the energy performance of buildings can be made most cost effectively. For example, solar panels can be integrated as part of the roof covering during a re-roofing job saving the cost of the slates they replace and the scaffold is already up and paid for (it looks better too). Poor choices made during any building or renovation project could lock in unnecessarily high energy bills for decades to come. With rising energy prices, that is quite a worry for many people.

There are many niche players offering very expensive specialist services or products to householders and businesses regardless of whether they’re appropriate for their needs. It will always pay dividends to invest a relatively small sum in good independent advice before committing to expensive investments in energy efficiency improvements or micro-generation technologies. If you’re planning general renovation work, extensions, conversions and new builds, then this is the ideal time to get this valuable advice as relatively minor changes to the specification can yield real savings in money and carbon emissions in the long run.
